Alex shook his head. He got up and moved to the desk. He took out some coins and put them in a pouch. He laid it on the desk. "No, go ahead and go shopping. I will be in my room if you need me." he said.

She nodded though she was still worried about him. " Well then, your breakfast is just there on the table. Please eat it. And Sir? Do you mind if I take the horse? " she asked, for unlike many women, she knew how to ride astride a horse, and it would make the travel much shorter.

He stopped at the door. "No. In fact, you can have him." he said as he walked up the stairs.

Elizabeth smiled broadly, though she would never in fact keep the horse, never would dhe take an animal as herse without paying for it, she was a woman who did not need charity. But still, she would take the horse for the trip. Quietly she took the pouch into her hand and retrieved her cloak from her bed room before going out to the barn to get the horse. It did not take her long to tack up the horse, and before long she was off to market, though she did make a stop at the neiboring farm to ask one of the maids to go check up on the master in a short while.

Alex walked up to his room and took off his clothes. He put on his night clothes and crawled into bed. He covered himself from head to feet. He was still chilled and sweating but he finally went to sleep.

Elizabeth had to spend most of the day at market, for she had had many things to buy. Everything but the food was to be sent to the house later that night, but the food she carried with her, in packs along the horse's back. She made her way swiftly back to the house, where she found the maid from the neiboring house just leaving, she reported that the master was simply asleep. With that, Elise went inside with the food and set it down before taking the horse into the barn and untaking and caring for him. Then she had to go inside. There were many things to do but she started by first starting a rich and thick stew, which, combined with the medicine she had bought, should make the master feel better. She let it sit while she put the rest of the food away, and soon the whole house was filled with the aroma.

Alec did not even wake up when he smelled the food cooking. He was too tired to eat. He simply rolled over and covered back up.

With good timing on her side the stew was done just as Elise had finished putting away all of the goods. Now she took a piece of still warm bread, and a bowl of the stew upstairs on a tray with a medicine syrup which was supposed to make one feel better. As quetly as she could she went up the stairs by the kitchen and went into the master's bedroom. She sat the tray on the bedside table and quietly lifted a chair beside his bed and sat down, carefully surveying if he had gotten worse or better.

ALex started to shake during the night. One minute he was fine, the next he was shaking, and the next he was sweating. HE started to cough along with it to.

Eventually Elise had gone back toher own bedroom for the night, though she was still ever worried about the master. In fact, she didn't sleep very easily that night at all. So whent the master started shaking and coughing, Elise was there almost emidiatly in her night robe with a candle. She sat in the chair again looking at the master. Then she sat the candle down on the nightstand and reached for the wash basin. She took the cloth next to it and dipped it into the water before ringing it out and gently washing the sweat from his forehead.

Alex opened his eyes the next morning into the sunlight. He looked around at his room. He sat up and rubbed his eyes.

Elise hadn't moved from her chair through the night, and sat with her head bent on her shoulder, the cloth still in her hand from where she had been wipping his forehead.

Alex smiled as he saw her in the chair. He got up and put his clothes on as quietly as he could. He walked back over to her. He bent down and picked her up in his arms. He walked her back to her bedroom and put her to her bed. He covered her up and walked out. He walked down to his study and started to write things.

Elizabeth stayed almost sound asleep as he moved her,but she wasn't in bed for long before her usual rising time came back to her. When her eyelids fluttered open, they were met with bright sunlight. Then, she remembered what she had been doing the night before, and realized how she must have gotten back to her own bed. She was embaraced to say the least, master had seen her in her night gown! Never the less, she had the day ahead of her and she quickly changed into her maids outfit. Then she went downstairs, to the study door and knocked on the frame. " Good morning Sir, is there anything you would like for breakfast? " she asked him. For she didn't want to make him something that he wouldn't eat.
