Alexandra smiled as she sat mounted upon her lippizan, Alfred carefully tucked into her robes so that he wouldn't fall out, occasionally poking his head out to scent the breeze. She looked behind her over her shoulder for a moment, peering to see if Marcus had been able to catch up with her. For she had cantered on ahead, her mare anxious and ready as the scent of the salty sea had come upon her. Now, as she slowed, the sight of the sea coming closer and closer she paused the contrast of the deep blue of the water and the bright green of the moor truly a sight to behold.

Marcus followed her and smiled. He trotted and caught up to her easily. He looked at her studying the way her hair moved with the wind and the way her eyes shined.

Alexandra turned her head slightly, for she felt his eyes upon her, studying her carefully. " Staring a something? " she asked letting her voice be only slightly flirtatious, for after all, she was a duchess, out riding with only Alfred as witness, she shant let herself be carried away with this man, for her reputation might be smudged.

Marcus smiled at her " Just you." He said. He knew that if either of them did something her reputation would be smudged unless of course they planned to marry. He was not sure about that now but maybe later after they got to know each other.

Alexandra allowed herself only a small smile at his comment. " Well then, since you have taken a glance of me, do tell me of yourself so that I may have something in return. " she said finding herself wanting to know more of this man, for if indeed he too was of duch rank, then he might be a suitor whom she would call upon.

Marcus looked at her " well what would you like to know." He asked her with a smile.

She thought for a moment, what indeed would she like to know most of all. " Well Sir, you said that you do not live with your brother. Where in fact do you live, and why away from loved family? " she asked. For she herself lived with most of her family, but then again, she was a daughter, just come of age.

Marcus looked at her " I live in a mansion up that way." He nodded up the beach " and my brother is the only loved one alive." He explained to her.

Her gave too shifted up to the cliffs by the ocean. " How magnificent a view! So are you then the Dutchmen which everyone speaks of? " she asked for she had heard stories of the house, the man who lived inside of it the first heir to a house, who passed it onto his brother, preferring to live by himself.

Marcus nodded " Yes sadly enough." He smiled " But I do not mind it so much it just gets somewhat annoying having everyone know who I am." He said to her.

She gave a small lady like laugh. " I know the feeling. You wouldn't know what I would give to be talked to as just Alexandra, instead of The Gran Duchess. " she said with a slight roll of her eyes, though she had let her title slip accidently, the mistake wasn't noticed by her.

Marcus looked at her " Intresting." He said " I had forgotten we even had a grand duchess." He dismounted his stallion and removed the tack. He set it on the ground away from the sea and looked at her.

She nodded, waiting until he had dismounted before she turned her horse away from him and dismounted, hiding her bellowing skirts from view to protect her modesty. Alfred too took the moment to jump out of her skirts and scurry out of the way of the horse's feet. Then, Alex skilfully unclipped the side saddle from her horse's back and set it just near his, then removed the bridle from the horse's mouth which was given quite easily. Alexandra hung it on her arm for a moment and scratched the mare's ears. " Now please, do be a lady for me. " she said glancing over at the stallion, with that she patted the mare and left her to graze at will.
Now her attention was focused back on Marcus as she sat the bridle down by the saddle. " Ah yes, many of my suitors had no knowledge of me until I returned from England and father held a ball. " she again gave a light, ladylike laugh for a moment as she remembered a thought. " It is quiet funny actually, for many of them claim to have known and pinned for me for years! " she said. Ah yes, the tricks which one pulls for the sake of marriage.

Marcus nodded " Well I am not suprised that they would claim such for a lady as beautiful as you." He said. He looked at the fox then sighed. He pulled a blanket from his saddle bag and laid it upon the ground. He sat down upon it and looked at Alexandrea " Will you not sit." He asked her.

Alexandra smiled at his, " You flatter me good sir. " she said watching his movements as he pulled a blanket from his satchel. carefully she tucked her skirts beneath her and sat on the edge of the blanket, looking out at the sea just over the cliff. Alfred settled himself neatly in her lap, resting his head over her leg to look at Marcus, almost as if to read his thoughts, which, unknown to Marcus, the little fox could. For he was not a normal fox at all.
